Florist Requirements

A floral designer makes artistic floral and greenery arrangements for funerals, parties, weddings, and other special occasions.  Floral designers are in charge of planning and designing arrangements, following client instructions, decorating for special events, and keeping track of specifics like delivery dates and times.

You could work as a floral designer with both real and silk flowers. To be effective in this career, you must know what flowers are in season, what colors and kinds combine well together, and the lifespan of particular flowers once cut.  You should also be familiar with the various qualities of flowers as well.  We encourage you to find a school near you and take a course on floral design to lay the foundation of your career.

Requirements for Becoming a Florist

• There are no education or licensing necessities for working as a floral designer.
• Completing lessons or gaining a certificate or degree is recommended if you wish to work for yourself.
• Not only will you learn about horticulture and flower design, but you may also be able to enroll in business and management classes.
• Although certification is not required, becoming a professional floral designer can help you develop your career and make more money.
